Greener Home Reward

We can help you make your home greener

How does Greener Home Reward work?

It’s a one-time cash reward to help with the cost of adding solar panels, insulation, a heat pump and more. If you’ve got a residential mortgage with us and you’re interested in making these improvements to your home, you can claim for Greener Home Reward. You’ll need a TrustMark registered business to complete the home improvements before sending in your online claim form.

If you’re claiming for Greener Home Reward

We’ve updated our terms and conditions [PDF, 96.7kb] and made it simpler for you to claim for Greener Home Reward.
If you've already applied for Greener Home Reward, you can still submit a claim for your reward using the steps below.

What do I need to claim for Greener Home Reward?

You'll need to meet these eligibility requirements and reward rules on the day you make your claim, as highlighted in our Greener Home Reward terms and conditions [PDF, 96.7kb], to qualify for the reward. Claims may not be paid if you don’t meet all of these.

The eligibility requirements and reward rules include:

An eligible residential mortgage with us

A Direct Debit for your mortgage payments

Not be in breach of your mortgage conditions or have permission to let.

All your payments need to be up to date

Make sure you haven’t claimed the reward before

Proof of payments or work to be dated within three months of your claim.

You don't need to borrow more money or take out a loan from us to be eligible for Greener Home Reward.

The cost to you for the work, excluding any third-party contributions (such as a government grant), as shown on the invoice needs to be equal to or more than the value of the Greener Home Reward for the completed home improvement.

How to get your Greener Home Reward

Step 1: Improve your home

You’ll need a Trustmark registered business to complete the work on your property.

Make sure you meet all eligibility requirements and reward rules before completing any home improvements.

See our Greener Home Reward terms and conditions [PDF, 100kb] for the full requirements and eligibility criteria.

Step 2: Claim your reward

Once the home improvements are completed, you can submit the claim form. We’ll review your claim and if it’s approved, we’ll send you an email with details on how to send your proof of work and payment documents.

You’ll have three months from the invoice or payment date to submit your claim for Greener Home Reward.

If your claim is accepted, you’ll have one month to submit these documents.

Step 3: We’ll process your claim

Once you’ve submitted the documents, we’ll finish processing your claim. We might need to ask you for more information during this time.

We’ll pay the reward within four weeks of your claim being approved.

Get a Home Health Check for £50

Before getting your home improvements done, if you have a residential mortgage with us, we’re offering a Home Health Check, in partnership with British Gas. For £50, we can:

  • Give you an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, which looks at how much energy your home is using
  • Suggest ways you can potentially save on energy and costs
  • Talk to you about your home and energy habits, and answer any questions you might have.

Visit the British Gas page to find out more about our Home Health Check offer.

Which home improvements are eligible for Greener Home Reward?

Use this table of our approved home improvements to plan your works and get an idea of the amount you’ll receive if your Greener Home Reward claim is approved.

You can only receive one Greener Home Reward (or one between you if you’ve got a joint mortgage), and it must be for the residential property where you permanently live. You can’t make a second claim for any additional properties or home improvements.

We can’t give any advice on making home improvements. We recommend speaking to a range of TrustMark-registered businesses to find out more about the products they offer, where they come from, what the work involves, overall emissions involved in the supply chain for a particular product, and what cost and energy savings you might expect. They might be able to help you choose the right home improvements for you. Make sure you do your own research and feel happy with your decision before going ahead with home improvements.
