Use our Online Banking help tool to find the information you need, or see how to get in touch, in just a few steps.
How to register
To register for Online Banking, visit barclays.co.uk and click on the ‘Register’ button in the top-right corner of the screen. You can also go directly to our Online Banking registration page. You'll then need to follow the instructions on the page.
You’ll need to enter some personal information such as your
- Name and date of birth
- Postcode
- Email address
- Account number and sort code (these are on your debit card, cheque/paying-in book or bank statement) and card number (the 16-digit number on the front of your debit card)
Once you’ve registered, you can log in as soon as you receive your passcode, which we’ll post to your home address within five working days.

To register you’ll need to
- Live in the UK
- Be aged 16 or over
- Have either a Barclays current account with a bank card, a savings account or a mortgage, or be a merchant customer
How to log in
To log in to Online Banking, visit barclays.co.uk and click on the ’Log in’ button in the top-right corner of the screen.
There are two steps to the log-in process.
1. Tell us who you are by selecting one of the three options
- Your Online Banking membership number
- The long number from the front of your debit, authentication or cash card from us
- Your sort code and account number
2. Confirm your identity – using either PINsentry or your passcode and memorable word

How to open and manage accounts
Depending on your circumstances, you might be able to use Online Banking to
- Open and/or manage personal, Premier or student current accounts. See who can open an account for the different types we offer.
- Open and/or manage savings accounts, ISAs and saving bonds – click on the ‘Savings’ section for more information
- Manage business accounts and products
- Apply for and see your loans
To see the full list of account-management options, select the relevant section from Online Banking’s top menu (for example, ‘Manage accounts’ or ‘Save’) and follow the instructions.

How to make a payment or a transfer
In Online Banking, you can
- Make payments to someone new or who you’ve paid before (people or businesses)
- Make same-day payments (CHAPS)
- Transfer money between your accounts
- Make international payments
- Set up and manage standing orders
Making a payment in Online Banking
- Log in, then select ‘Pay’ next to the account you’d like to send the money from.
- Choose who to pay – if it’s a new person or company, add their full name, account details and the amount.
- Add a payment reference. This will appear on your and the payee’s statement, so you can use it to show the payment is from you.
- You’ll need to authorise some payments using PINsentry, so follow the on-screen instructions.
- Once you’re happy that the payment details are correct, you can save them for next time.
- Select ‘Complete payment’.
Transferring money between your accounts
- Log in, then select ‘Transfer’ next to the account you’d like to move the money from.
- Choose which account you’d like to make the transfer to, and the amount.
- Select ‘Check and confirm details’, then ‘Confirm transfer’.
Payment limits in Online Banking
Personal accounts
- The overall daily payment limit to other people or businesses is £50,000
- For single payments and standing orders to other people or businesses, the limit is £50,000
- For transfers between your own accounts with us, the limit is £250,000 per transaction
- The single payment limit for international payments in the app is £25,000 per transaction.
Premier accounts
- The overall daily payment limit to other people or businesses is £100,000 – this includes international, FPS and CHAPS payments
- For single payments and standing orders to other people or businesses, the limit is £50,000
- For transfers between your own accounts with us, the limit is £250,000 per transaction
- The single payment limit for international payments in the app is £25,000 per transaction.
Business accounts
- The overall daily payment limit to people or other businesses is £100,000 – this includes international, FPS and CHAPS payments
- For single payments and standing orders to people or other businesses, the limit is £50,000
- For transfers between your own accounts with us, the limit is £250,000 per transaction
- The single payment limit for international payments in the app is £25,000 per transaction.
To make payments over these limits, you’ll need to visit a branch. We’ll give you two months' notice of any changes we might make to payment limits.

How to see your account statements
Once you’ve logged in, you can view your statements and documents by
- Clicking on the ‘More‘ menu next to your accounts, then ‘View statements and documents’
Or
- Scrolling down to the section beneath your accounts and select ‘Statements and Documents’
Or
- Selecting the ‘Manage accounts’ option from the top menu, then ‘Statements and documents’ in the ‘Accounts’ section
Then, you’ll then need to
- Select the account you want to see the statements for
- Choose the month and year
- Click ‘Download’ and choose where to save the statement
Changing your statements’ frequency
- Go to ‘Statements and documents’
- Select the relevant account
- Click the link next to ‘Statement frequency’
- Click ‘Edit’ next to the account you want to change
- Use the dropdown options to select your new statement interval
- Scroll down and click ‘Save preference’
