No. You’ll need to be registered as a charity, excepted charity, federated associated charity or community interest company to take out our Charity and Impact Account. Once your organisation’s registered and you have a charity or community interest company number, just let us know and we’ll transfer you onto our Charity and Impact Account.

Many clubs are eligible to become charities, so it’s worth exploring whether you can attest to the Charity Commission guidelines. Once you’re registered as a charity, you’ll be able to receive Gift Aid and have access to other charitable support to help you increase your impact.
Setting yourself up to receive electronic payments and finding ways of fundraising online can help. There are lots of service providers that allow you to collect membership and subscription payments automatically – so you don’t have to collect cash and cheques yourself. You can also receive donations online through fundraising platforms.
With face-to-face, online and telephone payments, Barclaycard can make it easier to receive donations, particularly at live events where people are less likely to carry cash.
When we process your application, we carry out credit and fraud checks on your organisation and its officials. If your application’s successful, we’ll share information about how you manage your account with credit reference agencies.
We’ll review your application and carry out our checks. Once we’ve completed them, we’ll send a text to the mobile number you provided to let you know your account’s open.
We aim to open all accounts within five working days of getting your application post appointment. This could take longer if your organisation has a complex structure, or if we’re getting more applications than usual. We’ll get in touch if there are any significant delays after you’ve submitted your application, otherwise we’ll send your account details and debit card to you within five working days of opening your account.
If you tell us that you want to cancel or switch to a different account within 14 days of opening your account, we’ll refund any account fees that you’ve paid. The 14 days start from the day you get your Business Customer Agreement, or the date your account was opened, whichever is later.
